漆と出会ってから、いつの間にか長い月日が経ちました。
大学で初めて漆に触れ、その後輪島へ。
飽きることなく、日々器のことを考え、手を動かし、
時が過ぎてゆく。
好きなんだなあと改めて感じます。
乾漆という技法で数多くのうつわを作っている人があまりいないので、壁にぶつかったり、それを克服したり、一人で試行錯誤している。
それがまた楽しい。
そうして仕上がったうつわを喜んで使ってくれる人がいることが、
この上なく嬉しいのです。
そして海を眺め、鳥や虫の声を聴き、風を感じ、
この土地のものを食し、酒を飲む。
自分にとって最高の環境で、好きな仕事を続けられている。
これからもこの幸せな生活が続けられるよう、
日々精進していこうと思います。

It’s been a long time since I first encountered urushi.
I first worked with urushi at university and continued my learning in Wajima.
Everyday time passes while I contemplate tableware and
work with my hands without losing interest.
This makes me realize that I love my work.
As there aren’t many people crafting large amounts of tableware using the Kanshitsu technique, I often have to find solutions by myself. However, this is a part of the joy.
People enjoying my finished pieces makes me
extremely happy.
Where I live, I’m able to look at the sea, hear the sounds of birds and insects, feel the wind, eat local food and drink sake.
I have been striving to do what I love in the best
environment for me.
I intend to continue working hard to keep this happy life.
